Eric Barlow was born on May 8, 1966. He holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Colorado State University.
Barlow, a Republican, entered the Wyoming House of Representatives after Republican Frank Peasley retired from the District 3 seat. He won the August 21, 2012, Republican primary over Douglas Gerard with 49.8% of the vote.
He beat Gerard again in the 2014 primary with 53.0%, topped Frank Eathorne in the 2016 primary with 60.23%, was unopposed in the 2018 primary, and took 70.3% against Martin E. Phillips in the 2020 primary; he ran unopposed in every general election from 2012 to 2020.
He represented District 3 from 2013 to 2023 and presided over the chamber as speaker of the Wyoming House of Representatives from 2021 to 2023. In 2023 he moved to the Wyoming Senate, where he represents the 23rd district.
The governorship is open because Republican Governor Mark Gordon is term-limited. In the Republican primary on August 18, 2026, Barlow won the nomination with 45.1% of the vote, defeating state superintendent Megan Degenfelder. His opponent in the November 3, 2026, general election is Democrat Kenneth Casner, who was unopposed for his party's nomination.
