Steve Cohen, a former news director of KUSI-TV, is the Republican candidate in the 2026 election for California's 50th congressional district. The seat is held by Democrat Scott Peters, who was re-elected in 2024 with 64.3% of the vote.
In the top-two primary, Peters finished first with 48.15% and Cohen placed second with 39.79%, ahead of Democrats Aishwarya "Sparky" Mitra and Tim Arnous, Libertarian Joe Shea and Lucinda KWH Jahn, who stated no party preference. Cohen and Peters meet in the general election on November 3, 2026.
