2026 race

Zach Lahn, a businessman originally from Iowa, is the Republican nominee for governor of Iowa in the November 3, 2026, election. The seat is open because Republican governor Kim Reynolds chose to forgo a third term, making it the state's first open governor's race since 2006.

In the Republican primary held on June 2, 2026, congressman Randy Feenstra was considered the frontrunner after President Donald Trump endorsed him, but Lahn won the nomination with 37.65%.

His opponent in the general election is the Democratic nominee, state auditor Rob Sand, who was the sole Democrat to qualify for the primary ballot.
