Career

Roth, a realtor in Idaho, was the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Idaho in 2022 and the party's nominee for Idaho's 2nd congressional district in 2024.

2026 race

Roth won the Democratic nomination in the Idaho primary of May 19, 2026, for the Senate seat held by Republican Jim Risch, who is seeking a fourth term.

On July 8, 2026, the Ada County Democratic Central Committee wrote to Roth setting an August 12 deadline to raise $50,000 and present a campaign plan, failing which it would weigh endorsing independent Todd Achilles, a former state representative who had joined the race with the backing of Democratic leaders.

Roth rejected the demands and accused local party officials of trying to push him out in favor of Achilles. He announced his withdrawal on July 28, 2026.
