Stelson changed her party registration from Republican in February 2023 and ran for Congress in 2024 as a Democrat in the 10th district on a centrist platform. Janelle Stelson announced a second campaign for Pennsylvania's 10th congressional district in July 2025, and the following month she changed her voter registration to a Cumberland County address within the district.
