The district covers the area east of the Columbus metro area, including Newark, Zanesville and Mount Vernon, and is held by Republican incumbent Troy Balderson, who was re-elected with 68.6% of the vote in 2024.
In the three-candidate Democratic primary, Christian won 46.4% of the vote, ahead of community activist Daniel Crawford with 33.6% and bartender Jason Reynard with 20.0%. He faces Balderson in the general election on November 3, 2026.
