Michael Alfonso, a media producer and the son-in-law of Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy, is the Republican nominee for Wisconsin's 7th congressional district in northwestern Wisconsin, which includes Wausau and Superior.
The seat is open because Republican incumbent Tom Tiffany, reelected with 63.6% of the vote in 2024, is running for governor.
In a five-candidate Republican primary Alfonso took 48.96% of the vote, ahead of Kevin Hermening, a former chair of the Marathon County Republican Party, with 26.59% and public relations professional Jessi Ebben with 15.69%.
In the November 3, 2026, general election he faces Democrat Fred Clark, a former state representative from the 81st district (2009 to 2015).
