Biography & Campaign Analysis

Background

Randy Fine was born on April 20, 1974, to a Jewish family in Tucson, Arizona. His father, H. Alan Fine, was a professor of engineering at the University of Kentucky, and his mother, Harriet, had been a junior high school science teacher.

Fine was raised in Lexington, Kentucky, and spent his 11th grade year as a page of the United States House of Representatives before graduating from Henry Clay High School in 1992 as co-valedictorian.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts in government from Harvard University in 1996 and then a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School, where he was named a Baker Scholar.

Career

After working at McKinsey & Company and as a teaching fellow at Harvard, Fine became an executive for Harrah's Entertainment and for American Casino & Entertainment Properties.

In 2005 he founded the Fine Point Group, a consulting and management business, and in 2009 he was chief executive officer of the Greektown Casino in Detroit.

Fine was elected to the Florida House of Representatives from the 53rd district in 2016 and, following redistricting, ran in the 33rd district in 2022.

That year he sponsored a bill to dissolve Florida's independent special districts established before November 5, 1968, including the Reedy Creek Improvement District, which governed the land of Walt Disney World Resort. He was elected to the Florida Senate from the 19th district in November 2024.

When Mike Waltz resigned from Congress in 2025 to become U.S. national security advisor, Fine resigned from the Florida Senate effective March 31, 2025, and won the special election on April 1, defeating Democrat Josh Weil. He was sworn in on April 2, 2025. In the 119th Congress he serves on the Committee on Education and Workforce and the Committee on Foreign Affairs, and he is a member of the Freedom Caucus and the Republican Study Committee.

2026 race

Randy Fine is seeking a full term in Florida's 6th congressional district, the seat he won with 56.6% of the vote in the 2025 special election.

He won the Republican primary with 57.6% of the vote, ahead of influencer Dan Bilzerian (18.9%), Aaron Baker (13.6%) and Palm Coast city councilor Charles Gambaro (9.8%).

The primary campaign drew attention to Fine's comments on X about the Gaza war, which the American Jewish Committee condemned, and to antisemitic rhetoric from Bilzerian that Republican and Democratic congressmen denounced.

In the general election on November 3, 2026, Fine faces Democrat Eric Yonce, a realtor who won a four-way primary with 32.1% of the vote.
