Moore earned an apprenticeship certificate in welding from the C. S. Monroe Technology Center, a bachelor's degree in government from George Mason University, and a master's degree in strategic security studies from the National Defense University. He has also worked as a welder.
Career
Moore worked as a staffer on the U.S. House Committee on Foreign Affairs and, from 2013 to 2017, as a vice president of the lobbying firm Podesta Group, before becoming a director at Textron in 2017. In 2016 he won the 67th district seat in the West Virginia House of Delegates, where he served as assistant majority whip. Speaker Roger Hanshaw named him the next majority leader in 2018, but Moore lost his reelection bid that year to John Doyle.
In 2020 Moore ran for West Virginia State Treasurer and defeated 24-year incumbent John Perdue with 56% of the vote, serving as the state's 25th treasurer from 2021 to 2025.
He then ran in 2024 to succeed Alex Mooney in the 2nd congressional district, as Mooney was running for the U.S. Senate, and won the Republican primary against four other candidates with 46% of the vote before winning the November general election.
He was sworn in on January 3, 2025, and serves on the Committee on Appropriations. Moore lives in Harpers Ferry with his wife, Guillermina, and their two daughters and son.
