Victor Marx was born on July 5, 1965, in Lafayette, Louisiana, and grew up there, moving often as a child; by his account he lived in 17 homes and attended 14 schools.
He served three years in the Marine Corps, 1983 to 1986, having enlisted in response to the 1983 Beirut barracks bombings, and he became a Christian near the end of his service after reuniting with his biological father.
He also worked for three years as an assistant at Focus on the Family, the evangelical organization of James Dobson. He and his wife, Eileen, met through their shared interest in martial arts; the couple opened a gym, and a pastor in Honolulu later drew them there to start a Christian karate school.
Marx lived in Hawaii from 1995 to 2001. They have five children.
In 2003 Marx founded All Things Possible Ministries, and he has described exorcisms as part of his ministry work.
He is the author of two books, With God, All Things Are Possible: The Victor Marx Story (2013) and The Dangerous Gentleman: A Call for Men to be Courageous in a Culture of Fear (2024), and he has addressed numerous Turning Point USA gatherings.

Both opponents said before the vote that they would withhold their endorsement if he became the nominee. Marx won the June 30, 2026, Republican primary by a narrow margin, with the race called on July 9, and in late July he named Marine veteran George Markert to the ticket for lieutenant governor.
He faces Democrat Phil Weiser, the Colorado Attorney General, in the November 3, 2026, general election.
