2026 race

Arthur Purves, president of the Fairfax County taxpayers alliance and a perennial candidate, is the Republican nominee for Virginia's 11th congressional district, which covers the city of Fairfax and portions of Fairfax County.

He became the nominee after businessman Gavin Solomon withdrew from the Republican primary. The seat is held by Democrat James Walkinshaw, who won it with 75.1% of the vote in a special election to finish the term of Gerry Connolly, who died in office on May 21, 2025.

In the general election on November 3, 2026, Purves faces Walkinshaw and Green Party nominee Dianne Blais, an activist.
