Biography & Campaign Analysis

2026 race

Elizabeth Lee, a nurse, is the Democratic nominee in the 2026 election for Arizona's 5th congressional district, which is based in the East Valley and includes Gilbert and portions of Chandler and Mesa.

The seat is open because Republican incumbent Andy Biggs, who was reelected with 60.4% of the vote in 2024, is retiring to run for governor. In the Democratic primary Lee won 66.0% of the vote, defeating nonprofit CEO Chris James (20.8%) and nurse practitioner and veteran Brian Hualde (13.2%).

In the general election on November 3, 2026, she faces Republican Mark Lamb, a former Pinal County sheriff (2017 to 2024) and candidate for the U.S. Senate in 2024.
