2026 race
Ramaswamy is the Republican Party's nominee in the November 3, 2026, race for governor of Ohio, an open seat because Republican governor Mike DeWine is barred from a third consecutive term. Endorsed by the Ohio Republican Party and Trump, he won the May 5 primary against minimal opposition.
His Democratic opponent is Amy Acton, a former state health director who was unopposed in her primary. If elected, he would be Ohio's first Indian American governor and the first Hindu to hold a governorship anywhere in the United States.
