2026 race

Dan Barrios, a Richardson city councilor, is the Democratic nominee in the 2026 election for Texas's 32nd congressional district. The seat is open because redistricting drew Democratic incumbent Julie Johnson into the 24th district, and Johnson ultimately decided to seek re-election in the 33rd.

The new 32nd covers suburbs north and northeast of Dallas, including all of Richardson, and stretches east across Lake Ray Hubbard through Rockwall County to Mineola and Gilmer. Barrios won the Democratic primary with 60.4% of the vote, defeating EMT Anthony Bridges.

In the November 3, 2026, general election Barrios faces Republican Jace Yarbrough, an attorney who led the Republican primary with 49.0% and became the nominee after Ryan Binkley withdrew before the runoff.
