Mike Cargile, a Republican and independent filmmaker, is running against Democratic incumbent Norma Torres in California's 35th congressional district in 2026. Torres was re-elected with 58.4% of the vote in 2024, and Cargile was the runner-up for this district in 2020, 2022 and 2024.
In the top-two primary he received 40.44% of the vote to Torres's 59.54%, so the two advanced together to the general election. Cargile faces Torres, the incumbent U.S. representative, on November 3, 2026.
