2026 race
Trever Nehls, a former Fort Bend County constable for the 4th precinct (2013 to 2020), is the Republican nominee in the 2026 election for Texas's 22nd congressional district, which covers southwest suburban Houston, including Sugar Land, Rosenberg, Katy and Fulshear.
The seat is open because his brother, Republican incumbent Troy Nehls, who was re-elected with 62.1% in 2024, declined to seek reelection. Nehls won the Republican primary with 75.7% of the vote against geophysicist Rebecca Clark, after former state representative Jacey Jetton withdrew.
In the general election on November 3, 2026, Nehls faces Democrat Marquette Greene-Scott, an Iowa Colony city councilor and the party's 2024 nominee for the district.
