Rudy Recile, a businessman who finished as runner-up for California's 8th congressional district in 2022 and 2024, is the Republican candidate in the 2026 general election for the seat. The incumbent is Democrat John Garamendi, who was re-elected with 74.0% of the vote in 2024.
