2026 race

Thomas, a nurse, is the Democratic nominee in the 2026 U.S. Senate election in Oklahoma. Markwayne Mullin resigned the seat to serve as secretary of homeland security, and Alan Armstrong, the Republican appointed to it in March, is barred from running for a full term.

No candidate reached a majority in the June 16 Democratic primary, and Thomas beat attorney Jim Priest in the August 25 runoff with 61.2% of the vote.

Her Republican opponent in the November 3 general election is Representative Kevin Hern, who won his party's primary with 69.8% over country singer Ty England and has the endorsement of President Donald Trump.
