Biography & Campaign Analysis
Background
Nick Langworthy was born in Jamestown, New York, and graduated in 1999 from the Pine Valley Central School in his hometown of South Dayton. At Niagara University he established the university's branch of the College Republicans, chaired the New York College Republicans, and earned a bachelor's degree in political science. He is married to Erin Baker Langworthy, whom he met while both worked on the staff of Congressman Thomas M. Reynolds.
Career
After interning in Governor George Pataki's office and running a congressional campaign for Brett Sommer in 2000, Langworthy joined Reynolds's staff and managed his re-election campaigns in 2004 and 2006.
He then managed the 2008 campaign of Representative Chris Lee and served as Lee's district office director until May 2010.
That month he won a special election to chair the Erie County Republican Committee, becoming the youngest chair of either party in the county's history, and on July 1, 2019, he was named chair of the New York State Republican Committee, the youngest state chair in party history.
When U.S. Representative Chris Jacobs withdrew from the 2022 race for New York's 23rd district, Langworthy entered and won the August 24 Republican primary over Carl Paladino before defeating Democrat Max Della Pia in the general election. He was re-elected in 2024, and in 2025 he was a member of the House Rules Committee.
