2026 race

Gregg Mele is the Republican nominee in the 2026 election for New Jersey's 12th congressional district, a Central Jersey seat that takes in the state capital of Trenton, Princeton University and Plainfield.

The seat is open after Democratic incumbent Bonnie Watson Coleman, who was re-elected with 61.2% of the vote in 2024, withdrew from the race.

Mele won the Mercer County Republican convention with 81.3% and the Somerset County Republican convention with 87.2%, defeating David Brown at both, and was then unopposed in the Republican primary with 13,298 votes.

In the general election on November 3, 2026, Mele faces Democrat Adam Hamawy, a surgeon, and Green Party candidate Andres Jinete.
